The 2012 London Olympics have been the most covered Olympics in history. Photographers were able to get their cameras into more places and coverage of the events were streamed in real time online. With all these amazing pictures that poured into Newscom, we just had to keep sharing them with the world.
The Olympics were actually a good case study on how Newscom works, if you’ll allow us to elaborate. Newscom has partnered with more than 200 content partners – from the biggest names in the photo industry around the world to some fabulous freelance photographers. Because we partner with so many different photographers in different countries and with different levels of access to events, the photos that come in to Newscom from a single event are truly fabulous and tell a story no one else can tell. From the heat of the moment in the event to the reaction of the fans in the stands to shots from outside the venue, Newscom had every level of the story.
Now that we’re nearly a week out from the closing ceremonies, it’s time to start putting together the best photos and stories from the Games. The ones we really need to remember. This Olympics was the end of the Phelps era. Check out the amazing photos we have collected of him. Usain Bolt is again the fastest man in the world. Come see our pictures of him racing. The Flying Squirrel has captured America’s heart. Find Gabby Douglas here. There were so many other story lines from these Olympics, it’s hard to pick just one or two tell.
Because we had so many great photos of the Olympics, it was a little hard to sort through them. So we put together a lot of lightboxes showing some of the best (and some of our favorite) photos on so many different aspects of the Olympics. From the best photos of diving or of Missy Franklin, to the funniest faces Olympians made as they competed.
We have some of the coolest and most diverse pictures of the Olympics– anything you need to help tell your story is here.
Tell us, what was your favorite story from the Olympics? Do you have a favorite photo that you’ve seen come out of London?
